The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF), in the spirit of promoting the study and development in optics and photonics, issues a 2023 call for two prizes of € 500,00 for undergraduate (master) theses. The prizes will be delivered as a contribution to the attendance expenses for a conference, school, or any other similar activity, at the request of the winners.

The prizes are dedicated to young SIOF members who carried their activity by an Italian or Research Center and whose thesis has optics and photonics as the main subject.

To apply for the call the candidates must have a valid SIOF membership, a master degree awarded between 01/01/2022 and 31/12/2022.

A committee nominated by the SIOF Board will select the two most valuable contributions for the prizes based on:

- the degree grade;

- all works published or in press, including publications on national and international journals, conference and workshop proceedings, internal notes, patents and any other documents attesting the ability acquired by the candidate in the fields of optics and photonics;

- the thesis abstract.

The prizes will be announced and, if possible, compatibly with the commitments of the winners, delivered to them during an event organized by SIOF with a date following the decision of the commission. The date and place of the award ceremony will be communicated to the winners together with the information referred to in the previous point.
